Transforming Stoke-on-Trent’s Digital Landscape

As one of the first cities in the UK to benefit from VXFIBER’s fibre-to-the-premises (FTTP), open access model, the partnership between VXFIBER and Stoke-on-Trent City Council signifies a milestone as part of the City Council’s drive to transform Stoke-on-Trent’s digital landscape.

For the first time residents and businesses across the city will have access to gigabit-speed broadband services of up to 1000mbps from its Service Provider partners.

Stoke-on-Trent City Council’s ambition is to update and extend its current Stoke Private Optical Network ‘fibre ring’ and enable a full fibre network across the city. Its an ambition founded on two key objectives: first, that digital infrastructure is the cornerstone of any successful modern economy; second, rising demand for fast and reliable connectivity means that today’s fibre/copper network will not be fit to support the city’s digital economy. The Council recognises the need to upgrade to full fibre as a matter of urgency if it is to develop a competitive advantage in an increasingly digital world.

Stoke-on-Trent City Council’s partnership with VXFIBER will provide full fibre gigabit-enabled broadband for tens of thousands of homes and businesses.

Mikael Sandberg, Chairman at VXFIBER: “We’re delighted to include Stoke-on-Trent as one of our first UK city investments, and we are looking forward to many more similar partnerships across the UK.”
